P90X2: Week 8 Day 1, V-Sculpt

by Chris Batu

Ah yes, the post workout picture just before kicking of Ab Ripper 2.  This is after my first time through V-Sculpt which is basically a Back and Biceps workout routine.

I have to say, I really liked the variety in this workout.  I was really surprised by the resistance bands moved that Tony employed, with the exception of the one that had the band slapping my face lol.  I got some video of just about everything as my man James and I went at the workout.  That clip might make it in the video, we’ll see.

The pull ups weren’t too crazy fancy but there were some good ones in there like the Around the World pull up which is that crazy looking one in the trailer where he looks like a Ferris wheel or something.  Then there was also the one that had you holding a medicine ball in four feet while you’re doing chin ups.  Good times.

There was also a lot of renegade position moves which were a nice touch.  You really feel the core engagement on those when you’ve got the right weight to challenge your muscles.  If you’re not holding tight, your butts on the mats right away.

My weights varied anywhere from 40 pounds on the straight arm overhead pull to 15 pounds on the close body curls.  I think I can manage a tad more weight next week so I’m going to go for it.  The pull up numbers were ok for the first time through.  I was expecting that since we’re doing so much work on the biceps too.  I’ll definitely be shooting to get to at least 10 on every pull up move next week.

Tomorrow is the familiar Plyocide.  Kinda crazy how this workout is a relief to see on the schedule.

Ab ripper 2, good as always.

What did you get into today?  Bring it people!
